We received about 100 proposals for entry to the Ikon South Africa series coming up and we want to thank you all for the creative visions you have shared with us. We look forward to making some of the films possible and encourage everyone to continue seeking the resources you need to tell the stories you need to tell.

You may by now have received letters of acknowledgment via email for your proposals. There were a couple of filmmakes who submitted drama scripts - and unfortunately those ideas are not part of the Ikon Documentary series - but we wish you good luck and will forward the feedback to the filmmakers.

The Timeline for commissioning is as follows:

SHORTLISTING / READING FOR FEEDBACK:AUGUST
The South African and Swedish production team will be shortlisting proposals and consulting with the SABC and the NFVF around the film projects shortlisted. After the shortlisting process filmmakers will be notified and if shortlisted, a pitching meeting will be set up for September with the panel.

PITCHING & MEETING WITH FILMMAKERS IN REGIONS:
SEPTEMBER - 19-22 SEPTEMBER
The SA and Swedish team of producers will travel to the regions to meet with the filmmakers, who will be asked to pitch their short documentary idea.

FILMMAKERS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF DECISIONS IN OCTOBER AFTER WHICH CONTRACTS WILL BE DRAWN UP AND PRODUCTION SCHEDULES WILL BE FINALISED.
