COMPANY HISTORY
RCF was registered as a Close Corporation in 1999. Vaughan Giose and Martina Della Togna are the directors of Rainbow Circle Films. In its six-year existence Rainbow Circle Films has specialized in documentary production for broadcast and training. Several of the company’s documentary films have been screened at local and international film festivals, including the Encounters Documentary Festival (SA), the Gothenburg Film Festival (Sweden), the SACOD Maputo Film Forum, the NY SA Film Festival & the SA Women’s Film Festival. RCF owns its own DV Final Cut Pro editing facilities and offers production services to the independent filmmaking community.

BEE STATUS
RCF where possible refers and assists emerging filmmakers to obtain training, and provide regular support and advice for start up production companies.

Rainbow Circle Films is a Black Empowerment Company that practices an affirmative procurement policy and has a strong track record in the training and development of black film practitioners, crew and partnerships.
RCF’s company practice is to create development, training and job opportunities for particularly township based emerging filmmakers. The company directors believe that we are building the future of the industry and have been able to provide the production expertise to create qualitative experiences and films. RCF has developed partnerships and associations with an extensive network of independent filmmakers.
RCF also founded Cape Town’s first Township Film Festival - the Molweni Township Film Festival in 2000.
Our company policy and practice is to create development, training and job opportunities for emerging filmmakers.

Our belief is that in strengthening our network we are building the future of the industry and contributing towards its transformation.



We have worked with first time directors and have been able to provide the production expertise to create fruitful and qualitative experiences and products.

The RCF Directors have taken on a number of emerging filmmakers and given them opportunities to work with and develop their skills and experience on projects.

We have trained documentary directors, camera and sound technicians, editors and production assistants.

As a company we also contribute towards the transformation of the Western Cape film industry as a whole.
Vaughan is on the Board of the Cape Film Commission.
Our company sponsored the first NTVA meeting in Guguletu Township ever! on the 16th November 2002.
